We arranged with the help of Kent highways service to introduce certain traffic calming in the center of Broadstairs, High Street and Albion Street the main thoroughfares.  I received a certain amount of comment and concerns regarding the delays this is causing especially during the summer months and certain times of the day and evening.  With the help of the Broadstairs traffic committee we are reassessing the situation and have had a consultation with the residents of Broadstairs.  Two projects were put forward and this analysis is being made to the benefits of both projects.

The wooden figure of the "Highlander” that stands on the building along the Pier was in desperate need of some attention and it was brought to my attention that there was not funding to have it repaired.  Councillors have a certain amount of funding put towards projects in the wards they represent and I thought that this would be something that the people of Broadstairs would appreciate to be repaired, so this was done.

Over the past of 4 years I have on behalf of Broadstairs and St Peter’s obtained funding for various projects in the area I represent.  One of these was the flower bed at the junction of Stone Road and Lanthorn Road.  It has now been planted out with a small tree which makes the area more attractive.  I have also arranged funding for new notice boards at Westwood cross detailing the attractions of Broadstairs.

You set us many challenges when we were elected to our Town, District and County Council. We are pleased to tell you that we are well on our way to deliver these for you. And you can see for yourself what we have achieved on your behalf.

The town council has supported another exciting year of activity in the town. With the extra decorative lighting and traffic calming that has come forward over the last few months it will help not only the visitors to our town but also the residents.

Vandalism and hooliganism is being overcome by the attention of the Thanet police service but we know that more has to be done especially on Friday and Saturday evenings and we can now have a dispersal order placed on certain areas of the the town centre. The town council will be encouraging more activities by the police to take further action when necessary. At the Town assembly  held in March volunteers were requested to come forward to sit on a board to look into the difficulties in the Town centre.
